Cantica Libertatis is part of the Bells For Freedom project, a unique, participatory multidisciplinary initiative that celebrates Amsterdam’s rich history of freedom and tolerance while stimulating current conversations about these values. By combining music, art, and community participation, the project contributes to the commemoration of 80 years of freedom in a meaningful and inclusive way.
Cantica Libertatis – Commemorating 80 years freedom – World premiere

World premiere of Cantica Libertatis (Songs of Freedom) by Marion Von Tilzer featuring the youth choir Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam, chamber ensemble including Adam Quartet, Soheil Shayesteh (Kemençe), Niti Ranjan (tabla), Michael Hesselink (clarinet), and Marion Von Tilzer (piano). The composition was written to commemorate 80 years of freedom, coinciding with Amsterdam's 750th anniversary celebration. The core of the project is the inscription on Amsterdam's Freedom Bell (De Vrijheidsklok in de Zuidertoren) which reads "Guard freedom above all, O Amsterdam, so that it may preserve you" and Franklin D. Roosevelt's Four Freedoms Speech. The composition is part of 4 Bells For Freedom
